
Program Coordinator Senior Citizens Transportation – Public Works – Community Transportation
Organizational Overview:
The Division of Community Transportation was created to provide a safe, trouble-free, scheduled transportation system for persons with disabilities, seniors, and frail residents of Bergen County. Service is provided in a professional, timely, courteous, and caring manner in all types of weather. Service is door-to-door, when possible, and is provided by drivers who are specially trained to assist seniors and persons with disabilities. This vital service is life sustaining for our clients with serious medical and health needs; a lifeline to homebound clients who are delivered nutritional meals daily, and a link to social services for clients who would otherwise be isolated and alone.
Job Description:
This employment opportunity is to serve as a Program Coordinator Senior Citizens Transportation. Under direction, plans, implements and directs a program involved in providing transportation for senior citizens to and from shopping locations, health facilities, clinics, and other centers where needed services are provided; does related work as required.
Job Responsibilities:
- Implements adherence to program guidelines.
- Organizes, assigns work, and supervises the activities of staff and the program.
- Prepares informational releases and promotional material concerning the program.
- Creates and maintains public relations and serves as liaison with the general public, community groups, and other agencies.
- Participates in the selection, training, and evaluation of staff members.
- Prepares routes and schedules for buses to follow.
- Assists in the preparation of proposals and applications for continuation of the program.
- Is responsible for the acquisition, storage, and use of equipment and supplies.
- Prepares correspondence and reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
- Evaluates the services provided, identifies problem areas and needs, and provides alternatives for the utilization of available resources.
- Evaluates client requests and determines acceptance of applications for service.
- Attends to clients’ complaints and inquiries.
- Directs the establishment and maintenance of necessary records and files.
Schedule:
Full time (40 hours/week) Monday – Friday
Occasional Overtime
Education Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent
Other Requirements:
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience in an agency operating program in the field of transportation services which shall have included the preparation of routes and schedules and transportation services for the elderly.
- Experience with CTS TripMaster Software preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Word, Outlook and Excel programs.
- Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
- Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey to perform essential duties of the position.

Salary: $45,000 / per annum
