
Analyst Trainee – Division of Senior Services – Department of Human Services
Organizational Overview:
The Bergen County Division of Senior Services is the primary agency in Bergen County that plans and coordinates services for County residents age 60 and above, and their caregivers. The Division and its various committees advocate for those with the greatest economic and social needs. The Division also provides support to various community-based organizations that promote the well-being and independence of Bergen County’s 220,000 older adults.
Job Description:
This employment opportunity is to serve as an Analyst Trainee for the Nutrition Unit. At the direction of the Nutrition and Wellness Unit Supervisor, performs all related duties and assignments to support the Home Delivered Meal and Congregate Nutrition Programs.
Job Responsibilities:
- Field and process incoming calls to the Nutrition and Wellness Unit and provide support and assistance on various topics including but not limited to; Home Delivered Meal Program, Congregate Nutrition Program, program eligibility. Process requests for change, program suspensions, resumes and/or terminations.
- Review and process new Meals on Wheels client applications for eligibility and service.
- Complete and maintain accurate and timely documentation in New Jersey State database system and home delivered meal management system.
- Support Meals on Wheels drivers during daily deliveries and initiate client welfare checks with local police departments as needed.
- Conduct client bi-annual reassessments both in-person and by phone to determine continued eligibility.
- Generate and confirm daily meal orders for accuracy, resolve any issues and submit meal orders to contracted caterers as assigned.
- Generate and communicate daily drivers’ sheets to assigned Community Transportation designees.
- Review and reconcile daily route management driver reports.
- Communicate and update warehouse staff on daily changes as required.
- Monitor and manage home delivered meal wait list and prioritize as needed.
- Collaborate with assigned unit staff to remove clients from waitlists and coordinate program start dates.
- Compile and distribute program welcome packets to new clients, ensuring accurate documentation and timely mailing.
- Update client records daily as needed in all required systems as it relates to nutrition programs.
- Support the data entry process for annual client surveys, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in and support Nutrition and Wellness events and programs, including Wellness Fairs, the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program, the Division of Senior Services Annual Senior Festival, community presentations, and outreach activities.
Schedule: Full time (40 hours/week) Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience in a social service, health or community agency involving gathering social information from clients, identifying their needs, providing referrals for needed services, or planning and carrying out treatment plans for clients.
Other Requirements:
- Bilingual English – Spanish is preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Word, Outlook and Excel programs.
- Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
- Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey to perform essential duties of the position.
- Appointees will be required to complete all mandated trainings and certifications such as SAGE, annual Bergen County Discrimination/Anti-Harassment, Cybersecurity Awareness, and Food Handlers and Safety Certification.
