Program Coordinator Special Events – Department of Health Services

Job Description: 

This employment opportunity is to serve as a Program Coordinator Special Events. Under direction, coordinates, promotes, and supervises special event programs designed specifically for community, agency, or facility participation; promotes public relations within the community, agency or facility; may also manage the operation of the building used to hold these events, formulating plans for effective utilization of available funds, personnel, equipment, materials, and supplies; does other related duties as required.

Job Responsibilities:              

  • Organizes, coordinates, and oversees a program of scheduling special events such as entertainment, athletic, social, civic and/or educational functions.
  • May be responsible for designing advertisement and/or promotional items such as brochures, handbills, posters, etc.
  • Performs work involved in setting up community, agency, or facility events such as entertainment, athletic, social, civic and/or educational functions.
  • Maintains liaison with various service organizations, churches, business organizations, and others.
  • May develop and supervise volunteer programs.
  • Interfaces with government and educational organizations to promote special events appropriate and beneficial to the community, agency or facility.
  • May provide assignments and instructions to individuals and to heads of several units involved in the cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds where special events and activities are held.
  • Formulates and executes plans for effective utilization of available funds, equipment, and supplies.
  • Prepares reports and correspondence.
  • Establishes and maintains essential records and files.

Schedule:   

  • Full time (40 hours/week)

Education Requirements: 

  • Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Other Requirements:

  • Bilingual English – Spanish is preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Word, Outlook and Excel programs.
  • Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and computerized information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
  • Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey to perform the essential duties of the position.

Salary: $66,365 / per annum
