BERGEN COUNTY OEM TO DISTRIBUTE BLEEDING CONTROL BLAST KITS TO LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AHEAD OF 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP
County strengthening regional public safety preparedness ahead of eight World Cup matches at MetLife Stadium, including the Final
EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – The Bergen County Office of Emergency Management will distribute Bleeding Control ‘Blast Kits’ to Bergen County police departments located near MetLife Stadium and Overpeck County Park as part of ongoing regional public safety and emergency preparedness efforts ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The kits were purchased by Bergen County OEM using FY23 Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant funding provided through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The total cost of the equipment purchase was approximately $12,732.
The distribution comes as the region prepares to host eight FIFA World Cup matches this summer at New York New Jersey Stadium in the Meadowlands, including the World Cup Final. Additionally, Bergen County has partnered with the Meadowlands Chamber of Commerce to host a Flag Cities World Cup fan festival at Overpeck County Park on Sunday, June 14. The initiative is part of Bergen County’s broader coordination with local, state, and federal partners to enhance emergency response capabilities and strengthen public safety preparedness surrounding one of the world’s largest international sporting events.
Bergen County Executive James J. Tedesco III, Bergen County Commissioner Chairman Steven Tanelli, and Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton will attend and be available to speak with members of the media.
