Training Technician / Quality Improvement Specialist (QIS) – Division of Child Care Resources, Department of Human Services

The mission of the Division of Child Care Resources is to empower Bergen County families by enabling them to provide their children with high-quality childcare that fosters healthy childhood development. Additionally, they are committed to supporting the child care community through comprehensive education and training programs.

Job Description:           

This employment opportunity will be to serve as the Training Technician / Quality Improvement Specialist (QIS). Under direction, delivers in service training, supports continuous quality improvement for child care providers, and promotes the Grow NJ Kids (GNJK) initiative. This role includes conducting staff training, coaching early childhood programs, and completing readiness assessment; does other related duties as required. Korean-speaking applicants are preferred to support community needs.

Job Responsibilities:              

  • Conduct structured in service training; develop lesson plans, training materials, and evaluation tools.
  • Review and incorporate agency policies into manuals, handouts, and guides.
  • Schedule trainings, maintain records, and prepare required reports.
  • Provide coaching and consultation to staff and program administrators.
  • Promote Grow NJ Kids and assist programs with Workforce Registry enrollment.
  • Implement Phase 1 of GNJK Technical Assistance for centers and family child care providers.
  • Conduct site visits, readiness assessments, and ERS related observations.
  • Review Environmental Rating Scale (ERS) self assessments and provide reflective feedback.
  • Transition programs to Regional Technical Assistance Centers.
  • Attend required GNJK meetings, trainings, and quality improvement events.
  • Participate in committees and work groups supporting childcare providers.
  • Prepares necessary reports and keeps required records and files.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule:   

  • Full time (40 hours/week).  
  • Occasional overtime – evenings and weekends as needed.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Child Development, or related field, and one (1) year of relevant professional experience.

OR

  • Five (5) years of relevant professional experience in training, employee development or teaching.

Other Requirements:

  • Bilingual English – Korean preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Word, Outlook and Excel programs.
  • Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office or related units.
  • Appointees will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey which is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Salary: $55,000 / per annum
