BEHIND-THE-SCENES LOOK AT MOSQUITO CONTROL OPERATION AS “BERGEN BITES BACK” COMBATS WEST NILE VIRUS
What: Members of the media are invited to join Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco and County Entomologist Matt Bickerton for a behind-the-scenes look at the County’s Mosquito Control Operation in response to recent West Nile Virus activity.
Multiple pools of mosquitoes across Bergen County have tested positive for West Nile Virus. While no human cases have been reported, the County’s “Bergen Bites Back” initiative is in full effect to mitigate further risk through surveillance, larval control, and public education.
This media availability will offer an inside look at how the County tracks and responds to mosquito-borne illness, including mosquito surveillance techniques, treatment protocols, and emerging health risks.
