BERGEN COUNTY, BNBMC BREAK GROUND ON MULTIGENERATIONAL CARE FACILITY

BERGEN COUNTY, BNBMC BREAK GROUND ON MULTIGENERATIONAL CARE FACILITY

PARAMUS, NJ — The County of Bergen and Bergen New Bridge Medical Center recently broke ground on a new facility designed to support families across generations. Slated to open in 2027 on Bergen New Bridge Medical Center’s campus, the building will house a childcare program, community physician offices and the future Bergen County Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) Center.

The project responds to the overlapping needs of families raising children, caring for aging parents and managing their own health. Bringing these services to one campus will help connect families with care and support at different stages of life.

“What makes this project so special is that it will serve Bergen County families across generations,” said Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco. “We’re creating a place where our seniors can get the care and support they need to remain healthy and independent, while also providing childcare for the hardworking men and women who care for our residents every day. I’m incredibly proud of how far Bergen New Bridge has come, and this is another example of our commitment to making this campus and the care it provides better for everyone.”

“As New Jersey’s largest hospital and largest licensed nursing home, we see every day how much families are juggling, often raising children and caring for aging parents while trying to keep up with their own health,” said Deborah Visconi, President and CEO of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. “Bringing childcare, community physician offices and a PACE program for older adults to our campus will help ease that burden. When your community trusts you enough to share what they need, you have a responsibility to follow through. Today, we’re putting shovels in the ground to bring families closer to getting the care and support they’ve asked for.”

“Communities build community. Today, we felt Bergen County’s shared commitment to better, more connected care for older adults and their families,” said Dr. Matt Patterson, President of WelbeHealth. “WelbeHealth believes in bringing one coordinated team around the whole person, making healthcare more human and helping older adults stay connected to the communities they love. We see the relationships are being built, the commitment is here, and this community has already come together to support its older adults.”

The future 45,000-square-foot facility is being financed through the Bergen County Improvement Authority which serves as the financing arm of the County of Bergen as well as the license holder of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by several local officials and dignitaries including Representative Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5), Representative Nellie Pou (NJ-9), NJ DHS Secretary Dr. Steven Cha, State Senator Holly Schepisi, Assemblywoman Ellen Park, County Commissioner Vice Chair Tracy Zur, County Commissioner Pro Tempore Dr. Joan Voss, County Commissioner Mary Amoroso, County Commissioner Rafael Marte, County Commissioner Germaine Ortiz, Bergen County Improvement Authority Executive Director Mauro Raguseo, and Paramus Council Representative Alfredo Nadera.

Construction is anticipated to be complete at the end of 2027 with the facility set to open in 2028 pending state approvals.
