Route 208 lane closures Friday night to shift traffic as
bridge project advances in Fair Lawn, Bergen County
New pattern necessary for bridge pier work in the median

(Trenton) – Route 208 is scheduled to have left lane closures in both directions Friday night to shift traffic as the CR 507/Maple Avenue Bridge over Route 208 replacement project advances in Glen Rock and Fair Lawn, Bergen County. Beginning at 9 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, September 11 until 6 a.m. Saturday, September 12, the left lanes on Route 208 in both directions are scheduled to be closed. The closures and traffic shifts are necessary to install construction barrier and restripe the roadway. Motorists are advised to slow down, use caution and expect delays when traveling through the work zone. By 6 a.m. Saturday, September 12, all lanes will be restored with traffic on Route 208 in both directions shifted to the right, using the shoulder and/or the acceleration/deceleration lanes as a travel lane. The ramp from CR 507/Maple Avenue northbound to Route 208 northbound and the ramp from Elm Avenue to Route 208 southbound will have stop signs to allow traffic to safely enter the highway. This pattern is expected to remain in place through the end of 2026. The traffic shift is necessary for bridge pier work in the Route 208 median. This work is part of the $10.4 million federally funded bridge replacement project that will replace the bridge deck and superstructure on the CR 507/Maple Avenue Bridge over Route 208 in Glen Rock and Fair Lawn, Bergen County. In addition, the project will improve bridge under-clearance, drainage, lighting, signage and fencing on the bridge, as well as replace sidewalks and upgrade curb ramps to meet ADA standards. Construction is expected to be completed in fall 2028. This project supports the Sherrill Administration’s commitment to improving the transportation network by maintaining roads and bridges in a state of good repair to help people and goods move safely and efficiently throughout the state for decades to come.
