LODI, NJ – Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco joined Lodi Mayor Scott Luna, members of the Bergen County Board of Commissioners, and local officials to mark the activation of the Bergen Fiber Network in the Borough of Lodi—bringing high-speed, county-owned broadband service to municipal operations without the throttling or escalating costs associated with commercial providers.

The Bergen Fiber Network is a County-built and County-operated broadband system designed specifically for government use. The network delivers dedicated, enterprise-grade connectivity that allows municipalities to operate more efficiently, securely, and cost-effectively while maintaining full control over their digital infrastructure.

“Bergen Fiber is about performance and value,” said County Executive Jim Tedesco. “Our municipalities already understand how important broadband is—but too often they’re paying more for less. By providing a fast, unthrottled network that the County owns and operates, we’re giving towns like Lodi a higher level of service while saving taxpayer dollars. That’s exactly what smart shared services should look like.”

By joining the Bergen Fiber Network, Lodi gains access to high-capacity bandwidth, improved reliability, and enhanced cybersecurity—supporting everything from daily municipal operations to public safety communications—at a significantly lower cost than traditional internet carriers.

“Bringing the Bergen Fiber Network to Lodi shows the power of shared services in action,” said Bergen County Commissioner Thomas Sullivan. “By working together, the County and our municipalities can provide faster, more reliable broadband, strengthen daily operations and save taxpayer dollars, delivering real benefits for the community.”

Mayor Scott Luna added, “Connecting to the Bergen Fiber Network is a major upgrade for Lodi. This partnership gives our Borough faster and more reliable internet service, better supports our municipal operations, and helps control costs for taxpayers. We’re proud to work with County Executive Tedesco and the County to bring this next-generation infrastructure to Lodi.”

The Bergen Fiber Network currently connects dozens of County and municipal facilities across Bergen County, including borough halls, libraries, and utilities authorities, and continues to expand as more towns opt into the shared service.
