Projects Nearing Public Bid Phase
Closter- Piermont Road and Vervalen Street
A new traffic signal will be installed at this intersection. Pedestrian upgrades will include newly constructed ADA compliant ramps and truncated dome mats, count down pedestrian signal heads, audible pedestrian pushbuttons and 10’ wide painted crosswalks. Both roadways within the project limits will be milled and paved with new striping and signage installed.
East Rutherford- Hackensack Avenue and Union Avenue
A new traffic signal will be installed at this intersection. Pedestrian upgrades will include newly constructed ADA compliant ramps and truncated dome mats, count down pedestrian signal heads, audible pedestrian pushbuttons and 10’ wide painted crosswalks. Both roadways within the project limits will be milled and paved with new striping and signage installed.
Hillsdale/Westwood – Kinderkamack Road Bridge Replacement over the Pascack Brook
This project encompasses the replacement of the above referenced bridge (No. 020027B), including the demolition and replacement of the existing substructure and superstructure, replacement of the approach roadway and installation of new guiderail to meet current AASHTO/NJDOT standards. The project will require the bridge to be closed for the construction duration, and a detour will be established. The construction duration is estimated to be approximately 12 months dependent on advance utility relocation work durations. Work is expected to start late 2026.
Moonachie-Carlstadt-S Hackensack- Washington Avenue/Moonachie Road & Empire Blvd/Moonachie Avenue
The existing traffic signal at this location will be fully replaced. Left turn lanes and phases will be incorporated in the southbound, westbound and eastbound directions. Pedestrian upgrades will include newly constructed ADA compliant ramps and truncated dome mats, count down pedestrian signal heads, audible pedestrian pushbuttons and 10’ wide painted crosswalks. Both roadways within the project limits will be milled and paved with new striping and signage installed.
Old Tappan/River Vale – Westwood Avenue Bridge Superstructure Rehabilitation over the Hackensack River
This project encompasses the rehabilitation of the above referenced bridge (No. 020043B), including the demolition and replacement of the existing concrete deck superstructure, steel repairs, concrete substructure repairs, replacement of the approach roadway and installation of new guiderail to meet current AASHTO/NJDOT standards. The project will require the bridge to be closed for the construction duration, and a detour will be established. The construction duration is estimated to be approximately 6 months dependent on advance utility relocation work durations. Work is expected to start summer/fall 2026.
Rochelle Park- Rochelle Avenue and Railroad Avenue
The existing traffic signal at this location will be fully replaced. The northbound approach will expand to two lanes, one left turn lane and one through/right turn lane. Railroad pre-emption will allow Railroad Ave traffic heading northbound to proceed while the train has activated the RR gates. Pedestrian upgrades will include newly constructed ADA compliant ramps and truncated dome mats, count down pedestrian signal heads, audible pedestrian pushbuttons and 10’ wide painted crosswalks. Both roadways within the project limits will be milled and paved with new striping and signage installed.
