PROJECT BACKGROUND
Otto C. Pehle Pond is a valued feature of Saddle River County Park that provides scenic views, wildlife habitat, and recreational opportunities for visitors. Over time, however, the pond has experienced significant sediment buildup, accumulation of organic debris along the shoreline, declining water quality, and the spread of invasive plant species. These conditions have reduced water depth, impacted aquatic habitat, and diminished the pond’s overall ecological health and appearance. The pond’s aging water control structures also need improvement to better manage water levels and reduce the effects of future storm events. The Otto Pehle Pond Restoration Project will revitalize this important park resource and help ensure the pond remains a healthy and enjoyable destination for future generations.
